Minimum Wages in Punjab 2023-24 | Explained

Hi Everyone! I hope you are all doing well. Welcome back to another blog. Today we will talk about Minimum Wages in Punjab 2023-24. 

Punjab- The minimum wage rate in Pakistan has been increased by the Caretaker Government of Punjab from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 32,000 per month. This decision will benefit all government employees in Pakistan, with a 25% increase in their minimum wage rates. The increase in minimum wage rates is aimed at improving the financial situation of low-income workers in the country.

Sindh- The minimum wage for unskilled workers in Sindh has been raised to Rs. 25,000 per month, which is 30% higher than the minimum wage rate in Punjab.

KPK- The minimum wage for unskilled workers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has been raised to Rs. 21,000 per month by the provincial government, marking a 5% increase over the wage rate increase in Punjab.

Balochistan- The minimum wage of workers in Balochistan has been raised to Rs. 20,000 per month, bringing it in line with the daily wages of Punjab.

Gilgit Baltistan- The government of Gilgit Baltistan has raised the minimum wage for daily wage workers to Rs. 20,000 per month, bringing it in line with the minimum wage set by the government of Punjab.

AJK- The minimum wage rate in Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been raised to Rs. 20,000 to align with the wage rates in Punjab, Balochistan, and Gilgit Baltistan for daily wage earners.

Minimum Wages in Punjab Notification

On 1st July 2021, the Chief Commissioner ICT, Islamabad fixed the minimum monthly wages for unskilled and juvenile workers in all industrial and commercial establishments in the I.C.T, Islamabad. This action was taken under the Minimum Wages Ordinance, 1961, as well as the Justice Division Notification No.F-17(2)/Pub/80 dated 31-12-1980, issued in pursuance of Article-2 of the Islamabad Capital Territory Administration Order 1980 (P.O. No. 18 of 1980).

Minimum Wage Rates in Punjab Notification

Wages in Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali & Bhakkar

On September 22, 2021, the Office of the Commissioner in the Sargodha Division released an official notification setting the minimum wage rates for labor in big cities. The rates are based on instructions from various letters and notifications issued by the Government of Punjab’s Finance Department. The Daily and Part-Time Monthly wage rates have been fixed for work charge employees in Sargodha Division from July 1, 2021, for the financial year 2021-2022.
