Ehsaas Targeted Subsidy Program 2023 held its second steering committee meeting today. Ehsaas Karyana Store Subsidy program design was approved by the committee. Subsidy programs provide food items at discounted prices to deserving families. In the coming week, the Prime Minister will announce the discount ratio.
A meeting of the steering committee of Ehsaas targeted commodity subsidies was held to approve the program design. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Sania Nishtar. The steering committee met for the second time since its constitution by the Prime Minister in July 2021. Under the Ehsaas umbrella, the national scale targeted subsidies program will identify beneficiaries through the Ehsaas national socioeconomic survey registry.
Dr. Sania said all the necessary preparations, digital structuring, and integrations for the program’s launch are complete. “The PM will announce next week the number of people to be supported and the exact amount of the subsidy,” she added. Design contours and roll-out preparations for the upcoming program were thoroughly reviewed by the committee members.
